Ashes Book Club
Does the idea of deconstructing feel overwhelming? like a journey that’s too long or too involved to even want to start? In our line of work, people consistently need information to counteract their religious programming. Many of us spent years under religious indoctrination, the effect of that will not be resolved overnight. We need better ideas, with supporting evidence, to overcome the old bad ones. As emotional, relational beings, we need to talk about the journey.
In this group, Mike will facilitate guided, constructive dialogue and hold space for the emotional journey that is deconstructing. We can’t force community to happen but in Mike’s 7+ years of facilitating groups like this, he consistently sees people go from strangers to allies to community and sometimes IRL friends in these spaces.
This is a subscription model (free to cancel at any time, books not included). We’ll be going through:
A New Kind of Christianity by Brian McLaren
The Bible Tells Me So by Peter Enns
This group meets weekly on Mondays at 5:45 pm CST.
